Yummy, homemade snacks for Halloween can definitely top all of them boring old Trick-or-Treat candies. Because let’s face it- no one wants to receive the same old candy corn, Mary Janes, Tootsie Rolls, and Necco Wafers anymore. Try to spice things up this year. Instead of the usual store-bought candy, you can create your own Halloween-inspired treats that are a hundred times tastier and more fun than what you would normally get on Halloween. All it takes is a little bit of creativity and a whole lot of whimsy on your part. Here are some great Halloween goodies that you can easily whip up at home!
Ghoulish White Chocolate-Dipped Strawberries
If you want healthy snacks for Halloween, then this ghostly treat might just fit the bill. These scary ghouls are made out of strawberries dipped into melted white chocolate, with chocolate chips for their faces (two chocolate chips for the eyes, and another for the mouth). Before you make some of these yourself, make sure that the berries are thoroughly dry to ensure that the chocolate will stick to them well. Also, don’t worry about leaving a pool of excess white chocolate when you let the berries dry. It makes for a great ghostly effect when they’re displayed on a plate.
Mummified Hotdogs
No, these things aren’t exactly centuries-old hotdogs that some archaeologist dug up, these are just your regular old hotdogs wrapped with dough to make them look like mummies. Though these spooktastic snacks for Halloween look quite intricate, making them is actually very easy. All you need is some hotdogs, a can of Pillsbury refrigerated dinner rolls dough, and sliced American cheese. Simply cut the dough into rectangles, wrap them around the hotdogs (don’t forget to also wrap a piece of cheese on the hotdogs for extra flavor), then bake until the dough is light brown (around 15 minutes or so) or according to the instructions specified on the dough’s package.
Toothy Apples
These are probably the only snacks for Halloween that look like as if they can bite you back! Just the perfect “toothy” treat to scare your guests with. The best thing of all- though they might look like something you wouldn’t want to put anywhere near your own mouth with, this terrifying snack is actually relatively healthy compared to your standard Halloween fare and is also very tasty and easy to make. The “mouths” themselves are made out of cut and quartered apples, with peanut butter to hold them together. The “teeth” are made out of plain white marshmallows.
Guacamolenstein
Snacks for Halloween? Why not Frankenstein? The big hulking dude’s probably one of the most recognizable horror icons of all time, and he is definitely one step above the usual ghost, witches, and zombies tropes that most people do during this time. Thankfully, you can fashion yourself your very own Frankentstein without using human body parts- just simply use guacamole instead! Just spoon some of your favorite guacamole onto a plate and fashion it into a rectangle. Place some tortilla chips near the top for Franky’s hair, then use sour cream, black beans or olives to form his face.
